About the Role

We are looking for a versatile STEP Consultant / Developer who will take ownership of the technical lifecycle of our Stibo Systems Enterprise Platform (STEP).

This role combines script development, taxonomy configuration, data modeling, and system understanding “under the hood.”

You will work closely with the business team to maintain, optimize, and extend our STEP environment as we transition from an on-premise Oracle-based setup to the Cloud (Cassandra).

This position is ideal for a STEP-savvy engineer who is comfortable both writing code and navigating the internal data structures, relationships, workflows, and configuration logic of STEP.

Requirements:

Technical

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Stibo STEP (preferred) or strong background in PIM/MDM systems with willingness to learn STEP quickly.
  • Proficiency in Java.
  • Experience with GraphQL (reading/writing queries for data retrieval).
  • Good understanding of XML, data transformations, and schema design.
  • Familiarity with database concepts (Oracle, Cassandra, MongoDB as a reference).
  • Experience working with taxonomy structures, categorization models, and Golden Record management

Functional

  • Understanding of product data modeling and e-commerce data flows.
  • Ability to navigate STEP’s folder structures, linkages, workflows, validations, and item relationships.
  • Experience with export pipelines, catalog feeds, or syndication tools.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the system.
  • Good communication skills and readiness to collaborate with distributed teams.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt as the platform evolves (cloud migration, new GraphQL-based workflows).
  • English level: Upper-Intermediate

Nice to have:

  • Experience with STEP PDX or other syndication frameworks.
  • Background working with automotive or aftermarket part data (Autocare Taxonomy).
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty/automotive categorization standards.
  • Experience working in hybrid support/consulting environments.
Responsibilities:
1. STEP Configuration & Development
  • Maintain and modify scripts within STEP (JavaScript/Java-based scripting).
  • Implement transformations for exported XML output files (e.g., catalog files, syndication feeds).
  • Work with Golden Records, blue/yellow folder structures, item linkages, and other STEP internal data models.
  • Support ongoing taxonomy and categorization model updates.
  • Participate in migration activities related to the transition from on-prem to Cloud.
2. Integrations & APIs
  • Rework existing MongoDB-based queries into GraphQL as part of the modernization effort.
  • Collaborate on integration flows between STEP and downstream systems (e-commerce, internal apps, data repositories).
  • Support syndication processes, including PDX or custom-built export logic.
3. System Understanding & Light Administration
  • Understand STEP architecture, environments, and core data structures.
  • Assist with configuration, patching coordination, and environment maintenance (Cloud).
  • Provide guidance on system usage and best practices to internal teams
4. Support & Collaboration
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for STEP-related tasks (script fixes, data model adjustments, export logic updates).
  • Act as the primary in-house STEP specialist, escalating only complex or critical issues to external support when needed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Data, eCommerce, Product, IT) to ensure accurate and stable STEP behavior.
