Senior UX Engineer
About the Client
Our client is the leading research data platform that’s transforming the way biomedical and imaging data are managed at leading life sciences, clinical, and academic institutions globally.
The client provides a comprehensive research data solution with all the tools needed for curation, imaging processing, machine learning workflows, and secure collaboration. By leveraging cloud scalability and automating research workflows, they help organizations scale research data and analysis, improve scientific collaboration, and accelerate discoveries.
Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior UX Engineer to work in a technical and highly collaborative environment. In this role, you will work closely with crossfunctional teams to help shape our product’s vision, translate technical requirements, and ambiguous challenges into intuitive, user-centric designs. Your work will directly impact how users interact with our product, and you’ll be instrumental in creating solutions that are both functional and innovative. You’ll work across design tools, design system, front-end code bases, and product tooling to ensure UX intent is implemented consistently and at scale. You’ll also establish a robust path for systematic user feedback information and interpretation to be incorporated as part of our product design process.
You’ll work at the intersection of design and engineering to make scalable user experiences. You will partner with UX designers to translate intent into reusable patterns, collaborate with engineers to ensure consistent adoption, and evolve our design system to support a growing product surface. This will include refining components, reviewing implementations, improving accessibility, or identifying where inconsistent or bespoke UI is slowing teams down. Your work will shape how the product feels everywhere, enabling teams to move faster without sacrificing quality.
Environment
Our client is highly responsive to their customer needs and constantly strives to positively contribute to the biomedical and life sciences communities they serve. They value collaborative people with a strong drive to simplify complex problems, a solid foundation in implementing UX design heuristics, and a customer-centered approach to designing software for people. They appreciate self-motivated, creative individuals who work well in a collaborative environment – constantly generating and sharing new ideas and solutions with the team.
Their team of product managers, engineers, data scientists, medical professionals and designers are all driven by a common desire to solve problems in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. As a startup, they embrace a culture of experimentation and agility and are always looking to push boundaries.

- Strong experience in Frontend development (5+ years) with modern frameworks
- Hands-on experience with design systems and reusable component libraries
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Ability to translate UI designs into scalable, production-ready code
- Experience ensuring consistency and quality of UI implementations across products
- Ability to work closely with designers and product teams to implement UX effectively
- Understanding of UX principles and usability (no design creation required)
- Ability to simplify and adapt designs based on technical constraints
- English level: Upper intermediate
Responsibilities:
Accelerate the Translation of Designs to Implementation:
- Translate UX intent into implementation-ready patterns, working with design tools and production code
- Adjust designs to fit real system constraints without redesigning the experience
- Identify where UX complexity can be reduced to shorten build time
Design System Development, Maintenance, Adoption
- In collaboration with product, design, and engineering, develop an understanding of the baseline state of the client’s VDS and a roadmap for adoption
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems and component libraries to ensure consistency across products.
- Collaborate with the UX team to ensure designs are on system and there is cohesion in design and patterns across designers.
- Advocate for best practices in design, usability, and accessibility.
- Contribute to documentation of pattern guidance using confluence or similar
Product Delivery and Workflow
- Identify where UX enablement work should be prioritized to unblock teams
- Track work in JIRA to manage cross team dependencies and adoption progress
- Review front-end implementations for consistency and quality to avoid systemic debt and relieve UX design from this part of the process
- Assist teams by ruthlessly balancing between UX quality and velocity
Integrate User Focused Input:
- Synthesize UX feedback from users (CSAT, VOC insights, NPS scores)
- Translate patterns in user feedback into proposals for design system and pattern improvements
- Partner with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand technical constraints and business requirements.
Self-Direction and Enablement Orientation
- Identify where UX enablement is breaking down
- Execution and impact through self-direction
- Bias toward creating artifacts that reduce future dependency on you
- Participate in and foster a collaborative culture with UX designers, Product Managers, and Engineers.
- Explain design system decisions clearly to engineers and product partners
